Through the Chobe Game Reserve to Kasane.
Kasane is right on the northern tip of Botswana where Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe are in close proximity. The Reserve is acknowledged as the best in Botswana and may be the best in Africa. It was a very long, hot drive on very rough and difficult roads. The worst bit was this was when we discovered, for sure, that the 4-wheel drive on my vehicle didn't work and switching it on only made the drive worse. There went three hours of a very long day with the car completely stuck in sand and us digging and pushing to get it out. We did manage it, although we had to get a special letter from one of the internal gates so we could be let out of the final reserve gate after it had closed. We stopped looking at game and just focussed on getting out so we didn't have to spend a night in there. There is no AA out there.
We did see lots of elephants and giraffes as well as ten lions during the day and we also saw our second leopard. The temperature by early afternoon was around 34 deg C - it was winter!
